Poetry book Review: Homosapiens Hymns
The book, “Homosapiens Hymns” by Rohan Gandhi is a collection of poems that are personal and heartfelt. The poet has managed to capture the essence of life in his work. He has expressed it in simple words yet with great depth. His work would appeal to all age groups. The language used in the book is very lucid and easy to understand. It makes for an excellent read and is sure to touch one’s hearts. This book will be loved by many who enjoy reading poetry.
This book is a must read for every person out there! I have never come across such powerful writing before in my life. How He can put so much emotion into each and every word is beyond me. All I know is that, after reading this book, I feel like I am going through some kind of emotional roller coaster. This book is not just about love but also about friendship, loss, family, nature, small things in life, marriage, divorce, – everything that makes up a human being. It is something everyone should read at least once in their lifetime.
There is a saying that the poet’s mind sees what others don’t see, and if it isn’t true then what is? In fact, there are plenty of poets who have shown how their creative juices flow when they look at things differently from everyone around them. They tend to seek out inspiration in the most unlikely of places & this book is correct example of that. When I first read this book of poems by Rohan Gandhi ‘homosapiens hymns’, I was immediately struck by the way each poem stood alone as an individual piece. The language used was simple yet powerful enough to make you feel like you were reading something very profound.
The poems are so beautifully written that they could be easily mistaken for a collection of prose. It must also be said that the author has done an excellent job in choosing his words. His metaphors and similes are extremely well chosen and complement his work superbly. There is no doubt about the fact that he deserves all the praise he has received till date. A book worth reading for people who love poetry!
The book is written in a simple style that any layman would understand. It also has beautiful illustrations of the places and people mentioned in it.
I have read poems by classic poets like Percy Bysshe Shelley, Robert Frost, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Maya Angelou, Dylan Thomas, Emily Dickinson, and new-age poets like Rupi Kaur, Gregory Pardlo, Sarah Kay, Charly Cox, Parker Lee, Ocean Vuong, etc., but I can fairly say this “Homosapiens Hymns” poetry book is definitely something I’ve never read. It’s like reading something new, something so extraordinary.I am really amazed with the power of words. The poems in this book are so different from what we generally get to read these days. Everything feels fresh, unique and new. To think that it takes immense talent to write something like this is mind boggling.I am attaching the link to the book in the end of post.
The whole concept of life is clearly portrayed in the book. Every line has been written with utmost care and detail. Each poem is like a tiny treasure that holds a deep meaning. I felt like I was actually visiting each place described in it. The author has managed to bring out the true beauty of life and all its aspects.
The book is so beautiful and romantic that I couldn’t stop re-reading it. It is full of joys and sorrows, love and hatred, happiness and grief, success and failure. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to experience the beauty of life and all its ups and downs.
